101 in 1001

After being only semi-successful with my 30 before 30 list, I decided to try again with an expanded version - the 101 in 1001 challenge! Here are the details directly from dayzeroproject.com, the original website behind this idea:

The Challenge:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).

I started with travel, worked my way through relationship/personal, financial, home, health and finishing with just for fun goals to round out my list. Some of the items on the list are "grown-up" to-dos that I've been avoiding, while others will hopefully help me grow as a person. It took me longer than I anticipated to come up with all of these items, but now that the list is ready, I can't wait to begin! Here's the list:

8.      See the Pacific Ocean
9.      Visit a new-to-me foreign country 
10.    Visit three out-of-state friends
11.    Take a trip with my sister
12.    Visit State College for an afternoon
13.    Visit the National Aquarium in Baltimore
14.    Host a brunch for Junior League members
15.    Research wills and get mine written and made official
16.    Create a family history book
17.    Plan a party for someone
18.    Treat my parents to a nice dinner out
19.    Bake my mother’s apple pie recipe 
20.    Send a surprise package to a far-away friend
21.    Host a small dinner party for two other couples
22.    Go to mass with a friend five times
23.    Have professional pictures taken of Jason and I
24.    Create an organized way to keep track of addresses
25.    Create a master “birthday calendar” and send cards to family and close friends
26.    Create a family photo book and gift it to my mother

29.    Attend an optional career training event through work

33.    Pay off half of my student loans (not necessarily half the amount, but half of the number of actual loans)

35.    Spend only cash for an entire month
36.    Frame our wedding invitation
37.    Buy a piece of original art
38.    Save for and plan kitchen update
39.    Buy a personal-use carpet cleaner or steamer (and use it!) (December 2014)

41.    Research ways to make our home more energy-efficient and implement the best ideas
42.    Plant a small vegetable garden
43.    Hang Christmas lights outdoors and on trees
